Opposing Bill HB 2347.
RE: Bill: HB 2347
To Whom It May Concern:
I thought this letter would serve as a late explanation to the benefits of the
plant Salvia Divinorum and the material
contained their in, as well as factual laboratory findings that contribute to
the need for further research regarding the
medicinal implications of Salvia Divinorum.
This same letter, or a copy of, was sent as representation to Bill 259 in the
state of California on March 27th 2007.
The Bill 259 in the state of California was defeated.
I know that strong consideration will be given to this task at hand. And rest
assured that we all agree to regulate S. divinorum
to ensure that it is not offered to or made available to minors. We strongly
support the Bill: SB 1796.
On the other hand, to outright prohibit possession in general and make it a
criminal offense, and in turn inhibit further research
would be a harsh measure taken and could eliminate what little good we have
for us which has been placed upon this earth.
A decision to make it a criminal offense could eliminate much good by destroying
many possible future findings that could help us all.
Please give careful review of this document enclosed.
Kind regards
Citizens of the state of Texas
